ABOUT THIS COURSE

What this course covers

This free online course teaches how to inspect workplace ladders, recognise the defects that make a ladder unsafe, quarantine and tag out damaged ladders, and keep the ladder register up to date. It applies the South African requirement for ladders under General Safety Regulation 13A, with HSE guidance as supporting good practice. It is aimed at the person appointed as ladder inspector, storekeepers and supervisors on any site where ladders are used. Sixteen modules with 32 activities lead to a 48-question knowledge check; you need at least 39 correct, including all 16 safety-critical answers, to print the certificate of completion. Awareness only, non-accredited; it does not replace the written appointment or site-specific training, and it does not cover scaffolding or mobile elevating work platforms.
