What this course covers
This free online course teaches the person responsible for PPE how to inspect it visually, recognise safety-critical defects and contamination, quarantine items that are no longer fit for use, and record what was found. It follows the South African requirement that an employer keeps PPE in good condition (General Safety Regulation 2) and draws the line clearly at specialist inspection: harnesses, respirators and electrical PPE need the checks their manufacturers and the relevant regulations prescribe. The course is aimed at storekeepers, supervisors and the appointed PPE responsible person. Sixteen modules with 32 activities lead to a 48-question knowledge check; you need at least 39 correct, including all 16 safety-critical answers, to print the certificate of completion.
